Ubicada en un terreno accidentado y en pendiente, CASA U se sienta en la topografía como dos volúmenes blancos cargados por una base pétrea. Entre los dos volúmenes existe la escalera como elemento principal de circulación y entrada de luz natural. La casa se conecta con la calle a través de un puente, dando la impresión de tener un objeto escultórico dentro del espacio.

La luz –su entrada y proyección-, es uno de los temas centrales dentro del proyecto, dando movimiento y versatilidad a la casa que se desarrollará hacia los niveles inferiores. En el nivel superior las recámaras y el área privada; en el nivel intermedio los servicios y el área pública, y finalmente el área social con accesos y vistas al jardín en el volumen del nivel inferior que se entierra al terreno.

 

Located in a hilly and sloping terrain, CASA U deals with the topography with two white volumes that sit on top of a stone base. Between these two volumes the void of the staircase appears as the principal element of circulation and entry for natural light. The house is connected to the street through a bridge, giving the impression of having a sculptural object within the space.

The light is one of the central themes of the project, giving movement and versatility to the house permeating in all levels. The bedrooms and private areas are located in the upper level; in the intermediate level the service and public areas and finally the social area with access to the garden in the inferior level which is carving into the terrain.
